Think of a compact family car and chances are that Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 is the first one to strike your mind. The hatchback is a popular choice among customers in India, that is Bharat, and its popularity is only growing every day. This is probably what has encouraged Maruti-Suzuki to reconsider how it will bring the family car to the market the next time.

Reports coming to the surface are highlighting that Maruti-Suzuki is considering significantly enhancing the car’s performance by shedding its weight. This will enable the automobile company to offer multiple benefits including performance boost.
Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 Performance Enhancement
It’s been a while since Maruti Suzuki discontinued Alto 800. However, the charm around the Alto brand is very much intact. People still consider the said hatchback every time they want to buy a car, or even their first car for that matter. Now, the automobile company is looking to enhance its performance by reducing the weight of the car by almost 100 kg. This will bring the overall weight of the next K10 model somewhere between 580 kgs and 660 kgs, depending on the variant a customer purchases.
Weight reduction is likely to help Maruti Suzuki offer multiple benefits. According to a report by HT Auto, Alto K10 next-gen will debut sometime in 2026, and with reduced weight, it will offer a better fuel economy along with aligning with the environment-friendly objective of the industry. Weight reduction is also likely to facilitate a boost in the hatchback’s handling capacity and maneuverability.
Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 will further add to its fuel economy. The current model in the market offers an economy of 25.2 kmpl, on paper. The next-generation model which is slated to launch in the next year is expected to take it up a notch to around 30 kmpl, again, at least on paper.
It is believed that Maruti Suzuki will hold on to the security features of the car and only target select elements to bring down its weight. For instance, the automobile company could go after engine parts and wheels, or suspension and braking systems, to bring the upgrade to the market. All this will be supported by utilizing the latest technology that adds to a car’s security but does not add to its weight.
The actual performance of the next-generation Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 will prove itself after the launch. Meanwhile, everything remains a speculation based on the intent of the car manufacturer. It is safe to assume that no matter what happens, customers in India will continue looking forward to buying their favorite brand, which is Maruti Suzuki K10.
